Evaluate techniques used to control photographic image sharpness In this blog I will be discussing techniques to control photographic image sharpness. This includes shutter speed, aperture and the use of a tripod to take sharp, clear images. Shutter speed The two pictures below use a low shutter speed allowing the motion in the image to be flowing creating light trails of the cars passing. I focussed the image using manual focus to ensure that it was focussed correctly how i wanted it. I used a tripod to reduce motion blur in other parts of the image from the camera moving creating a sharp image where I needed. I didn't need to do much to create a well lit shot due to the car lights doing most of the work but I did lower the ISO to ensure the photo wasn't over exposed. I didn't use a flash as it would have had no effect. Apply different compositional techniques to the photographs taken In this report I will be showing different composition techniques used within the photographs I have taken and discuss the rules of photography. In the picture below, I have adjusted the aperture to have a low F stop, I believe around f4. You can tell this because the few daffodils in the foreground are in focus the the rest in the background are blurred slightly.  This draws the viewers attention to the flowers at the front rather than what's in the background. This means that my photograph uses the compositional technique of Shallow depth of field since the background is blurred rather than the whole thing being in focus which would be a deep depth of field. Manipulate camera settings to control exposure and focus Manual settings These pictures show how I changed the camera to manual settings which allows you to change the settings of ISO, aperture and shutter speed. ISO is the sensitivity to light. the lower the number the darker the shot and the higher the number the lighter the shot. You first put the camera on M mode by turning the dial as shown in the image above. you then are given the option to change the shutter speed, aperture and ISO all in one place. as you change the numbers the camera tells you briefly what it does as shown in the images below. This is a slow shutter speed that I plan to use to capture light trails or movement on camera.  I have to be careful as this can create motion blur so I'll need to use a tripod.
